CAAP, AVSEGROUP laud NVC - Crim Interns


For the last three academic years, the NVC Criminology Interns are already doing their practicum at the Kalibo International Airport. This was the result of a memorandum of agreement inked between the Northwestern Visayan Colliges College of Criminal Justice and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Phillippines (CAAP).

CAAP Manager Engr. Percy Malonesio has welcomed the agreement saying that it would boost the manpower capability of the airport. Criminology Intern were deputized to man the entrance gate and the X-ray machines in the departure area. They are also allowed to frisk passengers.

The Aviation Security Office of the airport has already recognized the contributions of the NVC Criminology Intern in the effective maintenance of security and order.Not less than the Aviation security Chief Insp. Limuel V Gasataya has expressed gratitude to the college through a certificate of commendation.

The Interns have also expressed optimism on the impact of the practicum program on their overall appreciation of law enforcement work.

''I am in - charge in the preparation of the duty list each week. This role has never failed to bring in new knowledge on my part. It's fulfilling,"said Crim Intern Mary Dane Alba.

Crim Intern Hitler S. Casimero said that he always look forward to his duty each morning.It has given him enough motivation to fulfill his taxing role at the airport.

Apart from the airport,the Intern are also deputized at the National Bureau of Investigation Kalibo Satellite Office, PNP Aklan Provincial Crime Laboratory and Aklan Parole and Probation Office.

On the part of Dr.Dennis I. Ibutnande, he accentuated the relevance of the internship program with the CAAP.

"We intend to create a holistic program aimed to prepare our graduating students of law enforcement,"quipped Dr. Ibutnande.

In the past, Criminology Intern were assigned in the Kalibo Police Station to undergo patrol operation. They used to be seen streets of Kalibo assisting polico force during the Ati-atihan Festival.
